How to Calculate Tiles for Your Room (with Free Calculator)

Ordering too few tiles delays your project; ordering too many wastes money. Here is the easy way to get it right.
Step 1: Measure the area
Multiply the room length by width (in feet). A 12 ft × 10 ft room = 120 sq.ft. For walls, multiply height by width and subtract doors/windows.
Step 2: Add wastage
Add 8–10% for straight laying and 12–15% for diagonal or patterned laying to cover cutting and breakage. 120 × 1.10 = 132 sq.ft.
Step 3: Divide by box coverage
Every tile box mentions its coverage. For example a 600x1200 mm box of 2 tiles covers about 15.5 sq.ft. 132 ÷ 15.5 = 8.5 → 9 boxes.
Use our calculator
Every tile on our website has a built-in calculator — enter your room size and it automatically adds the right boxes to your cart.
Pro tip: Always buy all boxes from the same batch to avoid shade variation, and keep 1 extra box for future repairs.
