What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is an AI assistant made by OpenAI. You type (or speak) a request in normal language and it replies like a helpful, very fast assistant. Behind it is a large language model: a program trained on huge amounts of text that predicts useful words, one after another.
What it is good at
| Great for | Example |
|---|---|
| Writing and rewriting | Emails, captions, letters, reports, translations |
| Explaining | “Explain GST input credit like I am new to business” |
| Thinking partner | Ideas, plans, pros and cons, interview practice |
| Working with files | Summarise a PDF, analyse an Excel sheet, read a photo |
| Creating | Images, presentations outlines, simple code |
What it is NOT
- Not always correct — it can state wrong facts confidently (“hallucinations”).
- Not a doctor, lawyer or CA — use it to prepare questions, not to replace professionals.
- Not a safe place for passwords, OTPs, Aadhaar or bank details.
